James Earl Finch, 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Earl was born on February 2, 1927 in Lonoke, Arkansas. He was raised and spent his youth in Furlow, Arkansas. Being only 16, he lied about his age and enlisted in the United States Navy on Dec. 6th, 1943. He served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII aboard several ships, to include the USS Alabama.
After the war, Earl return home, married Ruth Lankford, and began a family. Earl was a fireman with the North Little Rock Fire Department for over 28 years and rose to the rank of Captain. He loved to hunt, fish and raise a garden. He was aways eager to share with family and friends anything he hunted, caught, or raised.
He loved his friends and church family at Remount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dora (Finch) McNew, father, George Finch, 10 brothers and sisters, Creo, Buck, Pete, Ruby, Sadie, Jack, Wayne, Buddy, Lina and Alberta, his beloved wife, Ruth Lankford, and precious granddaughter, Jessica Ann Finch.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Stricklin (David), Patsy Boyd (Charles), and two sons, Rick Finch (Alice), and Jim Finch (Darlene), 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. A private burial service will held at the Concord Methodist Church Cemetery in Furlow, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Earl may be made to the Remount Baptist Church, 401 Mission Rd. , North Little Rock, AR 72118
