Born August 19, 1905 in Perry Springs, Illinois a daughter of Julius and Rachel Ann Durbin Conrad, Ruth married Russell Lee Akright on December 18, 1927 in the bride's home in Timewell; he preceded her in death on June 2, 1998
Ruth retired, along with Russell, in June of 1972 from the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk at Timewell after 30 years of service.
A graduate of Clayton High School, Ruth was a devoted member of the Timewell Christian Church and had attended St. John's Anglican Church in Quincy for the past 6 years.
She was a member of the Timewell American Legion Post #1059 Auxiliary and a 75-year member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Ruth loved time spent with her family and was always regarded as a caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 brother Charles Conrad.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004 in Hendricker Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling; Rev. Steve Griffin officiating.
Burial in Mound Cemetery, Timewell, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 Friday evening at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 8 a.m. until time of services on Saturday
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at the St. John's Anglican Church in Quincy, Illinois.
