Charles Leonard Bohn, a long-time resident of Cornland, passed into eternity on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Charles was born January 15, 1920, the son of Frank and Florence (Raholitz) WW Bohn. On July 31, 1945, he married Louise Fuiten. Charles was a WWII Army veteran having served eight years, with fifty-two months in foreign service. He was retired from CILCO (Ameren) in Springfield. He was a devoted member of Cornland Christian Church and a member of Mt. Pulaski Masonic Lodge 87 and Ansar Shrine.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Louise, daughter Brenda (Darrell) Woolums of rural Chestnut, IL; son Dennis (Cindy) of Sandwich, IL; grandchildren Adam, Amy, Andrew, Alex, and Jordan; great-grandsons Matthew, Braeden, and Aidan.
He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.
Charles was a humble, hardworking man who deeply loved his God, his family, his country, and his community. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Vonderlieth for their smiles, their hugs, their encouragement and compassion during Dad's final journey.
Services for Charles will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Fricke-Carvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski with Men Hickerson conducting services. A visitation will be held from 10-11:45 a.m. with Masonic services conducted by the Mt. Pulaski Masonic Lodge 87 conducting services beginning at 11:45 prior to the service. Burial will follow at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski with full military rites being accorded by the Mt. Pulaski American Legion Post 447.
Memorials may be given to Cornland Christian Church or Vonderlieth Living Center.
