Mr. Walter Melvin
Mr. Walter Payne Melvin, 82, of Boyds died Sunday, May 12, at Frederick Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Clara M. Melvin.
Mr. Melvin was retired from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad as a car inspector and from the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. He had served on the Boyds Credit Union committee for many years and was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barnesville.
Surviving are two sons, James D. Melvin of Johnsville and John F. Melvin of Urbana; and four daughters, Eleanor Carlin of Boyds, Marie Stanton of Gaithersburg, Terisa Johnson of Frederick and Rebecca Mathias of Gaithersburg.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 13, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Barnesville. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
