Patricia, a native of Wayne County, was the daughter of Charles and Mildred Mitchell Dickens. She had made her home in Pitt County for many years. She was employed at the ECU Brody School of Medicine, serving in various positions for 8 years. She later worked for the NC Department of Transportation in Pitt County, transferring to Brunswick County, retiring in 2008. Following her retirement, she returned to Pitt County where she was a member of Beacon Baptist Church in Farmville.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Charles “Sonny” Dickens.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Mart G. Spain; sons, Jeff Hardee and wife, Leah, of Wendell; and Chris Hardee of Greenville; step-children, Sheri Robertson-Hautola and husband, Ron, of Vero Beach, FL; Tony Robertson and wife, Debbie, of Urbana, IL; grandchildren, Tama Nicole Wooten Bolton; and Alan Eugene Wooten; great grandsons, Easton and Little Ricky; sisters, Wanda Glosson of Burlington; and LouAnn Haddock of Greenville; and her furbabies, Squeaky and Squirt.
