Calvin Eugene Beal was born on August 5, 1954 in Jackson, Alabama the third of five children born to the union of Columbus and Elmira Beal. As a results of his fathers transfer with Greyhound Bus Lines, the family settled in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he was an athletic standout at Tara High School and preeminently at Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College as a four-year baseball letterman earning ALL-SWAC and All-American baseball honors in 1976 as his 1.21 Earned Run Average was the best in the nation. In May of 1976, Calvin graduated from Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College with a Bachelors of Science in Business Management, Subsequently, Calvin played professionally for the Chicago Cubs baseball organization at the AA level for the 1978-1979 and 1979-1980 seasons. After his professional experience with the Chicago Cubs, he returned to Southern University and earned a Masters in Counselor Education and began volunteering with the baseball program and was a part of every SWAC championship win until 2016. In recognition of his athletic contributions, he was inducted in both Tara High School and Southern University's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Calvin exemplified his motto "Press On" throughout his life. He was employed in various industries and positions in city and state government. He advocated and rendered service to the Baton Rouge Community in various civic and social organizations and capacities. Calvin was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Inc, where he served as Basileus of its Lambda Alpha Chapter from 2001-2010.

Calvin was a faithful and loyal member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he used his gifts by service as a lay leader and on several boards and committees through Wesley and the Baton Rouge District of the United Methodist Church. He also served as a member of the Combined Choir, The Mens Chorus, The New Vision Choir, The United Methodist Men, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In 2006 he received the coveted Boy Scout 12 points Award from Wesley's Troop 426, where he was recognized for his service in the community and for living the ideals embodied in the scout oath and law.

Calvin will be missed on earth, but we rejoice in his reunion with his parents Columbus and Elmira Beal and a list of relatives and friends who have joined the eternal family of God.

Calvin leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Rose Marie Stewart Beal; daughters: Meghan Nicole Beal, Cherie Evonne Beal, and Brandi Rose Beal; grandchildren: Zuri Rose Beal, Kali Marie Roan, and Kain Jack Roan; immediate siblings: Wilfred L.
