WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa - Joyce Renae Staats, 70, of West Burlington, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, following a lengthy illness. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Great River Hospice House, 1306 S. Washington Road, West Burlington, IA 52655. Online condolences may be left by visiting www.iowacremation.com. Mrs. Staats was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Oakville, the daughter of Oscar and Jessie (Reddick) Swanson. She married Troy Staats on Aug. 18, 1956, in Wapello. She enjoyed dancing, walking and bicycling. Survivors include her husband, Troy; a son and daughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas; her parents; a stepfather, Alvie Tisor; and brother, Don Swanson.
