BURLINGTON, Iowa — Troy L. Staats of Burlington, formerly of Oakville, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, peacefully in his sleep at Great River Hospice House after a long illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wapello Church of the Nazarene. Troy grew up in Wapello where he married his wife, Joyce in 1956. Troy was the caretaker for Edward’s Cemetery and owned a successful television sales and repair shop for many years in Oakville where they resided for most of their lives until 2007 (Correction: flood in June of 2008) when they relocated to Burlington following a flood. Surviving family members include a son, Lee Staats, of Cuero, Texas, and a daughter, Robin Michel, of Bettendorf, as well as one granddaughter, Jordy and four grandsons, Jared, Jace, Keegan and Aaron. Troy was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters, his wife of 52 years, Joyce, and his son Doug.
