In life, Julie loved swimming and did so competitively from middle school into college. She was a proud graduate of Rockford West High School in 1978 and attended Coe College from 1978 to 1980. She served eight years in the Marine Corps as a photographer and continued it for her own pleasure afterwards. She fought tirelessly for the Reconciling Ministries Network for full inclusion in the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her wife, Vanessa Meeks of Atlanta, her daughter Morgan J. East (Laszlo Fodor) of Long Beach, California, and her brother Jim Fill of Rockford, Illinois, and her loving dog Harry. She is further survived by her biological sisters Cara Sivert (Sergio Reyes), Marion Peters (Mike), Sherry Hoots (Tim), and brother Roger Harshman, two aunts – Nancy Watson-Bocher and Becky Acuff, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents who raised her, Carla and Robert Fill, her biological parents, and her brother Larry Harshman.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Julie at a later date.
