Sherry Jean Bishop a resident of Trinity Healthcare of Williamson, WV formerly of Matewan, WV was born on November 28, 1947 in Belfry, KY a daughter of the late William Jennings Runyon and Pearl Viola (Watson) Runyon departed this life on Thursday, April 16, 2020 in Williamson, WV. Sherry was 72 years old. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Bishop, two infant boys, four brothers and three sisters.

Sherry was a member of the New Vision Assembly of Hatfield Bottom Matewan, WV and until her health declined she was a faithful attendee. The joy of the Lord was Sherry’s strength for her hope was in her savior Jesus Christ. She was described by all who had the privilege of knowing her as sweet and kind her smile communicated those facts. Sherry was a lady of few words but when she did speak she spoke words of encouragement and testified of the goodness of God. She adored her family and her smile will continue to light up the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Those that survive her include sons Mark Dearfield and his wife Annetta of Sprigg, WV, Troy Dearfield of WV; daughter April Bishop of Evansville, IN; sisters Patricia Burney of Matewan, WV; Linda Kennedy and her husband Mickey of Morganton, NC, Carolyn Stevens of Litchfield, MI, Henrietta Justice of Blair WV, Mildred Polansky of Chantilley, VA and adopted sister Lorine Blankenship of South Williamson, KY ; grandchildren Gage Pennington, Kaylee Pennington, Baylee Pennington and Kelsey Lovell; great grandchild Kylie Lovell

Sherry is also survived by a community of friends and neighbors and a host of nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions ordered by federal, state and local government agencies her services are limited to 10 people and will be held on Tuesday April 21, 2020 beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel of Matewan, WV with Pastor Ron Pruitt presiding burial will then follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens of Huddy, KY.

In complying with the COVID-19 guidelines a small gathering of 10 people will be held on Monday April 20, 2020 in the funeral home chapel following all social distancing mandates from 5-7:00 p.m.
