Betty Harris Langston of Waverly passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. She was a daughter of the late George and Marie Stringfield Harris.
Mrs. Langston was a member of Waverly Congregational Christian Church. She was raised in an orphanage and later lived with her brother, Sidney, until she was married. She loved to read and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Langston was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Carroll, Jr.; her brothers, Sidney Harris, Boochie Harris, and Lewis Harris, and her sister, Gladys Barrick, and her twin sister, Nellie Sheffield.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Carroll (Patricia); Gloria Jones (Billy), and Kenneth Carroll; grandchildren, Bradley Carroll (Lindsay), Nathan Jones, Robert “Bubba” Carroll (Kristina), Matthew Carroll (Kristen), Ashley Carroll (Jamie), Alicia Lamm (Joshua), Nicole Coker (Bryant), and Katie Bradley (Tyler); 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Shirley Harris (Ruby), and special nephew, Gary Sheffield.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, April 18, 2020 at Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, 6329 Mill Swamp Rd. Ivor, VA 23866 with Rev. Charles Willman officiating.
