Born Feb. 19, 1934, in Clarion, he was the son of the late William E. and Cecelia V. Aaron Ganoe. Growing up, many of his family and friends referred to Mr. Ganoe as "Charlie" and still do to this day.
He graduated in 1953 from Immaculate Conception High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. He was awarded his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in 1959 from the University of Pittsburgh.
He starting working in 1959 in the leather industry with the Howes Leather Co., serving as vice president of manufacturing for a number of years before he retired in 1989. As part of his service to the leather industry, his greatest pride was being awarded the original patent for the raw hide dog bone in the United States, Great Britain and Germany.
Enjoyments in his life included hunting, fishing, working in his garden and visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed building construction and renovation projects. One of his most prominent projects was the renovation of the old Clarion Hospital on Seventh Avenue in Clarion with his brothers, Ed and Dave, to develop the Clarion Office Complex.
Mr. Ganoe was a devout Catholic and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion.
