Oliver married Mary Elizabeth Shute (1845-?) on July 30, 1868 in Clements Township, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Children:
Freeman Milner (c1870-?) who married Jane and died young and after his death Jane later married Ed Pierce; Edward Clark Milner (1872-c1950) aka E.C. Milner; Ernest W. Milner (1873-1963) who married May and had Beulah Milner and Thurston Milner, and after her death he married Ina or Ida and had Charlotte Milner.

Meridan, New Hampshire:
Oliver moved to Meriden, New Hampshire where they had a blacksmith shop. The building as of 2006 is still standing and was converted into a single family home.
