Lillian Beth McGavran was born in Pomona, California on July 21, 1921 the second of three children born to Steve and Jen McGavran. She passed away peacefully on October 22, 2003 surrounded by her family at the home of her son.

Lillian spent her early years at the family ranch in Thermal and moved with her family to Vista in 1929. She attended Vista schools from 2nd grade through Vista High School. She worked her whole life in Vista working as a professional beautician, active in her church and many social organizations, including PTA, Jr. Woman's Club, Girl Scouts, Beta Sigma Phi and the Soroptomist International.

Lillian married Roger Bengston on July 27, 1943. They had three children. Roger preceded her in death in 1992. Although Lillian that Roger would enjoy his freedom and independence from Lillian's "To do" list in heaven, she continued to miss Roger's companionship and every ready handyman skills. Lillian enjoyed her last years with family, friends and the many church and social commitments she loved. She is survived by two sons, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
