Clayton Coleman Murphy, 92, of Burlington, died Thursday, April 16, 2020 at his home.

A native of Caswell County, Mr. Murphy was the husband of the late Wilma Gray Blanchard Murphy and the son of the late Clayton Williamson Murphy and the late Hattie Corbett Murphy.

Mr. Murphy was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. He began his career with BellSouth Telephone and retired from AT&T as an Assistant Project Manager. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a former Board Member of Faucette Township.

Mr. Murphy was a member of Long’s Chapel Christian Church.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Barrett, and her husband, Darrell, of Burlington; his son, Coleman Douglas Murphy and his wife, Carol, of Nashville, TN and a granddaughter, Christina Botzis of Forest, VA.

He was preceded in death by seven sisters and brothers.

A private graveside service will be held at Long’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery for the family.
