Aaron Keith Cooper
October 17, 1938 ~ April 15, 2020 (age 81)
Aaron Keith Cooper, 81, passed away Wednesday April 15th, 2020 at his house with his loving wife by his side. The family will hold a private memorial service at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home. Brother Joel Samuels will officiate, and Ken Patterson will sing. Burial will follow afterwards at Marshall Memory Gardens.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Thelma Cooper; his sisters Bernice, Inez, Imogene, Betty, Bertha and Shirley; his brothers Garland and Jerry.
Mr. Cooper was born and raised in the Sand Mountain area where he lived most of his life. He was a foreman at Chevron and lived in Anniston for over 30 years.
Aaron met the love of his wife Ruth in 1955 and convinced her to marry him in 1956. They had a wonderful marriage filled with love and laughter, especially after the birth of their children.
Aaron and his 2 sons Mike and David and his special nephew Brian were avid outdoorsman. He raised the boys to love being outdoors and they were always hunting or fishing anytime they got a chance. Practical jokes were a part of the activities they shared.
One of the best memories the boys had of their dad and uncle was when Aaron got out to unlock a gate for them to hunt. Mike blew the horn and made Aaron jump. Mike and Brian both denied blowing the horn to Aaron until this day.
Another time, Ruth made the guys 40 biscuits to take with them to the cabin. She hung the biscuits on the door, so they would remember to take them. Aaron and the boys forgot to take them, and they wound up searching all the cars hunting the biscuits.
Aaron was an avid golfer who could be found on the golf course anytime that he got a chance. He also was a huge Alabama fan and on Saturdays could be found watching and cheering on his Crimson Tide.
Aaron and Ruth attended the First Baptist Church of Guntersville for over 20 years. Aaron stayed very active in the church, until his health made him slow down. He was a member of the Asa Dodd Sunday School Class.
Aaron is survived by his devoted wife Ruth; his son Michael and his wife Mary Ann, his son David and his wife Karen; his grandchildren Joe, Becky, Amy, Jacob, James and Kaylene; 11 great grandchildren and his special nephew who he referred to as “son number 3”, Brian.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Encompass Hospice of Albertville or the First Baptist Church of Guntersville Building Fund.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later time this year.
