DALTON CITY -Gerald Jerry Merriman, 54, of Dalton City died 5:43 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 2, 1993) in St. Mary’s Hospital.Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion, with visitation 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the
American Heart Association.
Mr. Merriman was born Oct. 14, 1939, in Fillmore, the son of Wilson C. Merriman and Sadie F. Brown Merriman Rawlings. He was employed by Mount Zion townshipand was a member of Central Baptist Church of Decatur. He married Erma Jean Childs on July 9, 1960.
Surviving are his wife; mother; brothers, Frank and wife Rosemary of St.Peters, Mo,Carl and wife Amanda of Lincoln; sister, Mrs. John (Sue) Kaufman of Harristown.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Jerry was an avid horse lover and he did many things with them. He was a horse blacksmith, did contesting and raced quarter horses. His favorite horse was Colonel..
