---------------
Charlene Alyce Wagner Williams was born on August 19, 1935 to Charles and Lydia Wagner. She was born in Westpoint, Nebraska. The young family moved to Albuquerque, MN where she was raised with her six siblings.
Charlene was raised in a devote Catholic home. After high school she became a Sister of St. Francis in Rochester, MN. She served as a devoted sister for 15 years.
Education was always important to Charlene - as a student and a teacher. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the College of St. Teresa, Winona, MN and post graduate degree from the University of Cincinnati. Charlene was presented with her doctoral degree in education on May 22, 1978.
Charlene married her beloved husband Lofell Williams Sr. in March of 1977. They were married many years before he preceded her in death . She loved him dearly.
Charlene worked in the Cincinnati Public School system as an administrator and educator. She was a teacher and principal at various secondary schools. Her love for teaching continued after she retired in 1993.
In her retirement she led a life of voluntary service at several places : Great Parks of Hamilton County, Glenmary Home Missioners, Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Her mission in life was to help others. She assisted in teaching young Seminarians in preparation for their assignments in rural areas of the country. Charlene received many awards including the prestigious award from the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur - "Hearts As Wide As The World".
In the words of a Glenmary friend, "Charlene leaves behind a tremendous spirt of love, generosity, dedication and selflessness". Those qualities led her to be a generous philanthropist who supported many charities that helped those less fortunate. Charlene had a great love for animals, especially her pets. She enjoyed feeding the wildlife and birds that came to her beautiful yard.
In her last years, her stepson Lofell Jr. and his wife Carolyn cared for her in her own home where she could enjoy the fruits of her labor. Her last words to Lofell were " You did what you promised, to take care of me".
Charlene loved her family deeply. She leaves her sisters Mary Lynn Wagner, Rena (John) Swyers, and brothers William (Sharon), Thomas (Angie), Martin (Linda) and Michael. She leaves behind many well loved nieces and nephews.
Charlene greatly appreciated the support of the Williams family including brother-in law Oliver (Barbara) Williams, the children of Lofell Sr. - Jonathan Lofell Jr., Milton, Linda, and Kathy. She especially loved son Jeff, who preceded her in death.
John 6:40
For this is the will of God, that everyone who sees me believes in me should have eternal life.
