Henrietta J. Thompson, 94, of Cumming, Ga., formerly of South Bend, Ind , died at 11;35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept 24, in the Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Cumming.
She was born on March 10 1908, in South Bend, to the late Rose (Paris) and Joseph Stachowski.
On June 30, 1934, in South Bend, as Henrietta J. Stachowski, she married Arthur Joel Thompson, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1982.
Mrs Thompson was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Mrs Thompson is survived by a son, Arthur J (Denise) Thompson of Gainesville, Ga , two grandsons. Allan J (Barbara) Thompson of Southlake, Texas, and Arthur J (Brenda) Thompson of Madison Tenn, a step-granddaughter, Jenny (Taswell) Aderhold of Canton Ga , two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, and by a sister, Dorothy Ostrom of South Bend.
Mrs. Thompson was a retired secretary at Perley Elementary School in South Bend.
She graduated from Washington High School, South Bend, and had completed business courses at the University of Wisconsin and Indiana University and education courses at St. Marys College.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, and was a former member of the Dig and Delve Club.
She was a past president of the Indiana Association of Educational Office Professionals, was a volunteer at the Century Center, and had participated in the Forever Learning classes.
She enjoyed her family, traveling, arts and crafts, reading and cooking, and had traveled to Russia and China on a People to People Tour.
Services for Mrs Thompson will be at 10 am Friday, Sept 27, in Christ the King Catholic Church. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p m today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 30 p.m.
Entombment will be in the Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St Judes Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 300, Memphis TN 38148
