Private Family Memorial Services for Linda Pearl Holland, age 78, of O’Neill and formerly of California will be held at a later date.
Inurnment will take place at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
Linda passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the Arbor Care Center in O’Neill.
Linda Pearl Scherer was born on April 16, 1941 in Weatherford, TX to Fred and Emma (Rutledge) Scherer. She moved with her family to Orange, California, where she attended Orange High School and graduated in 1959. She went on to attend Redlands Nursing School to obtain her LPN.
Linda met Norman Holland though a mutual friend. They married on June 18, 1971 in Anaheim, CA, and together they raised four children; Cathie, Jeff, Brooke, and James.
Linda worked in various hospitals in California before moving to Nebraska in 2004 to be closer to her grandchildren. She worked for the O’Neill Golden Living Center for a time and then the Good Samaritan Center in Atkinson until retiring.
Linda enjoyed jewelry making and her cats and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. When she was younger, Linda refereed AYSO soccer games that her son, James, played in.
She had a deep faith in Christ and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in O’Neill.
Linda is survived by her children; Cathie(John) Franklin of Rialto, CA, Jeff (Jeanette) Franklin of O’Neill, NE, Brooke (Brian) Kaczor of O’Neill, NE; grandchildren, Steven Wright, David Wright, Nicole Wright, Nathan Kaczor, Kaleb Kaczor, Zoe Kaczor; one brother, Don (Shirley) Scherer of Orange, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Emma Scherer; her husband, Norman James Holland; son, James Alan Holland; siblings, Coy Anthony, DeWayne Strickland; Kay Cline.
