James Travis (Fritz) Rickard, 73 of Marion lost his battle with cancer at 2:45 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Integrity Health Care of Marion.

James was born October 30, 1946 in Madisonville, Kentucky to Robert Elvis and Eva Bell (Merrell) Rickard.

James is survived by a son, J. Rickard of Florida; four step children, Rusty and Mike, Kelly and Bobbi; one brother, R. Rickard; four sisters, A. Rickard, Phyllis, Kathy and Wanda.
A special thank you to his angel and adopted daughter Samantha (Brian) whom loved and took such wonderful care of Fritz. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nephews and nieces as well as extended family. Most important in his life was his companion dog Izza Bella, who he proclaimed was his saving grace.

James enjoyed fishing, cook-outs and mostly spending time and having fun with Izza Bella.

He was preceded in death by parents; grandparents, Tom and Crystal West; step-father, J.P. Merrell; two sisters, Martha and Mabel Rickard; step-brother, J.T. Merrell and his ex-partner, Shirley.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
