C. V. 'Tip' Graft, 88
Tuesday, September 20, 2005
C.V. 'Tip' Graft, 88, Peru, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Dukes Memorial
Hospital.
He was born on November 1, 1916 in Pipe Creek Township, Miami County, the son of Ira Vern and
Estella (Fiser) Graft. He married Vera Frances Butt on April 30, 1938 in Nead, and she survives.
Graft graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1935 and was a life-long Miami County farmer until
moving into Blair Ridge Retirement Community in 2000. He resided on the family farm, which was
designated a Hoosier Homestead Century Farm for being in the Graft family for over a century. Graft was
a member of the Loree Brethren Church, the Gideons International, and Miami County Farm Bureau. He
had been very active in Miami County 4-H Fair and served on the Miami County Fair Board. Graft had
also served on the board of the Bunker Hill Elevator and was a supporter of the Kokomo Rescue Mission.
Tip and Vera had also spent more than two decades wintering in Bradenton, Florida, where he was a
member of the Bradenton Castle Park Board of Directors and had served as president of the board.
Tip and Vera lovingly raised two wonderful children, and he had a huge heart and a great sense of humor.
A man of great faith and integrity, he never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew him. Graft
leaves this world with all that knew him better because of having spent time with him.
He is survived by his loving wife; one daughter, Karen Weaver and husband Richard, Peru; one son, John
Graft and wife Marcia, Lebanon; nine grandchildren, Ryan Graft, Shawn Graft, Julie Sommers and
husband Larry, Greg Montel and wife Cathy, Jeff Montel and wife Libby, Debbie Patterson and husband
Larry, Kevin Weaver and wife Leslie, Chris Weaver and wife Rachel, and Michelle Sheehan and husband Tom; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Vivian Marquis and husband
Robert, Peru.
Graft was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and an aunt, Marie Shafer.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Graft will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the
Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru, with Chaplain Steve Fleck and Pastor Gerald Zook officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, as well as one hour prior to the funeral
service.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Gideons International and/or the Loree
Brethren Church.
