Peggy Cooper Price of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away on April 11, 2020.

A private family graveside is scheduled. A memorial will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Peggy was born June 30, 1932, in Corum, Oklahoma to Myrtle and Marion Cooper. She graduated from Comanche High School in 1950. In 1953, she graduated from Oklahoma State University and married Wyndel Price. He preceded her in death in 1960.

Peggy began teaching at Duncan High School 1962. During her teaching career she earned her Master of Science Degree at OSU in 1964 and her Specialist in Education Degree at OSU in 1971.

She often said teaching was both challenging and rewarding. She won scholarships to study at Texas A&M, East Central State, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, OSU, and OU. As a result of the Oklahoma Writing Project at OU she shared her classroom writing experiences with other teachers and conducted writing workshops for local teachers. She was published in The Oklahoma Educator, The English Bulletin and Learning Magazine.

Peggy served as President of Duncan Education Association, Teacher of the Year, and elected into membership of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Traveling was Peggy’s favorite thing to do, whether it was camping in summertime with her children, leading student groups to Europe or attending Elderhostel’s throughout the world.

Throughout her retirement Peggy filled her time with her church, clubs, bridge, volunteer work and reading. In 2009 she received her 50-year certificate in the American Association of University Women.

Peggy is survived by her children: Teresa Price and husband John Griesenauer; Wayne Price and wife Mary; grandchildren: Tatiana (Price) and Clayton Stahn; Monica (Price) and Mike Rubits; Andy and Rebekah Griesenauer; Nicholas Griesenauer; great grandchildren: Wesley Stahn; Cooper Griesenauer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Wyndel Gene; sister, Minnie Hobbsiefken; and brother, Jack Cooper.
