Mrs. Joan Latrelle Barksdale Brooks, 82 of Tifton, died on Monday, April 13, 2020 at the Legacy Village in Tifton.
The family will hold private graveside service. The Rev. Todd Brooks will officiate.
Mrs. Brooks was born on September 28, 1937 in Worth County, to the late Joseph Olan and Hazel Ford Barksdale. She had lived in Tift County most of her life and was retired from the Tift County School System as a teacher. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and working in her yard, but most importantly spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She attended Tifton Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Joseph Brooks (Patricia) of TyTy and Sidney Brooks (Margie) of Tifton; daughter-in-law, Debrah Brooks of Tifton; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a brother, James Donald Barksdale (Kay) of Sylvania.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lamar Brooks on November 7, 2017; sons, Kyle Brooks on December 2, 2017, Todd Lee Brooks in 1963 and a brother, Melton Barksdale.
