Morganton, North Carolina, June 16, 1938 - William Harrison Avery, 65, prominent Burke County farmer and dairyman died suddenly today following an attack of angina pectoris while at work. He entered a doctors office and complained of feeling ill. He was taken to Grace Hospital, where he died in a few minutes.
Funeral services will be held at 4 oclock Friday afternoon at the Avery home, Swan Ponds, in Quaker Meadows Township.
Mr. William Harrison Avery, a member of one of Burke County,s oldest and best know families, was a son of the late William B. Avery. He was a leader in agricultural affairs and was former president of the Guernsey Cattle Breeders Association. He long was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Abbie Warlick Avery; four sons, Warlick, Weightstill, Robert and Philip Avery, all of Morganton, NC; and a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Avery of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, R. G. Avery of Burke County, and A. L. Avery of Charlotte, NC; and two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Avery of Morganton, NC and Mrs. W. W. Wilfong of Athens, GA.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Avery home, Swan Ponds this Friday afternoon at four oclock, in charge of his Pastor Rev. C. E. Gregory.
Internment will be in the cemetery at Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church
