CHILDRESS - Laura Gann Keys, 67, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Jim Gann and Kerry Wood officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress.

Mrs. Keys was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Bessemer City, N.C., to Sam and Thelma Gann. She was an Army brat as her father spent 34 years in the service. She met her future husband, Neal Keys, while he was stationed in Fort Bragg, N.C. They later married on Feb. 23, in Bennettsville, S.C., and spent the next 51 years making a life that included children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Keys owned and operated multiple businesses in the Childress area but spent more than 20 years working between Fox Clinic and Childress Regional Medical Center. Since retirement, her days were spent between church and family. She enjoyed playing golf with her friends, traveling and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Cecil and Olin Gann and multiple aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her husband, Neal Keys; two daughters, Connie Jones and husband Dan of Austin and Kelly Keys of Sanger; a son, Bobby Keys and wife Gwen of Bridgeport; five granddaughters, Felicia Keys, Quana Allison and husband Kelly, all of Sanger, Tara Reed and husband Chris of Childress, Tori Simons and husband Zac of Austin and Megan Jones of Austin; a grandson, Thad Keys of Bridgeport; three great-grandchildren, Tristen Allison, Reagan Allison and Olivia Reed; a brother, Jim Gann and wife Betty Jo of North Carolina; and many other special family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo TX 79109 or Meals on Wheels.
