Susan was very involved with the Special Olympics competing for a number of years in Bocce ball, taking those skills all the way to Ireland in 2003 for the Special Olympics World Games. Susan competed in her last state games in 2010 determined to make those even with several health challenges in her way. Susan also served as Special Olympics ambassador.
In June 2008, Susan was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She took that diagnosis and turned it into her special mission. For several years, walking in the Relay for Life and each year would hand write letters to family and friends to get donations. She wore the survivor badge with honor.
All that knew her will miss Susan’s smiles and hugs.
