Donna Karen Bagley Nelson passed away on the morning of April 11, 2020 with her adoring husband of 66 years and daughter by her side. She was born in Oklahoma City, on January 31st and in true Donna fashion, we cannot share the details of the year she was born. She met the love of her life, Jim at the tender age of 15. Jim remembers the moment vividly as he was walking up the steps of the Criterion Theater in Oklahoma City, he took one look at her then missed his next step and fell in love, literally at first sight. They married young in 1954 with a dime store ring, Grandma said it wouldn’t last. Their circle of love was complete with three precious daughters born. They turned their house into a home and stood beside each other in the darkest of times. Their love story is a tale as old as time, if you were lucky enough to have spent any time with Jim and Donna you knew you were in the midst of a love that was exceptional, a true example of what unconditional love is, a love so deep and rare that it was an inspiration to all.

Donna loved to listen to her husband sing and she supported him in his musical career while raising their three daughters. Donna worked for the City of Pasadena for 10 years and Rockwell where she retired from in 2005. She also worked as a real estate agent for many years. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Archives Chapter No. 1095. Donna loved to read and dance. You would be hard pressed not to find her out on the dance floor or with a book in her lap but nothing gave her more pleasure than being surrounded by her family and friends. Her love for her family is quite possibly the biggest legacy that she leaves behind. Donna was also known as Mema to those around her. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. While she may have considered herself to be tough as nails, those around her knew that was far from the truth. Her bark was always worse than her bite. She had an open heart that she shared with all who knew her. She loved hard and she lived even harder. Her laugh was contagious and always accompanied with a snort and once you got her started, there was no stopping her so you might as well join in and laugh until you cried.

Donna was embraced in heaven by her two daughters, Kathy and Karla, her dad Wade Dupuis, her mother and father, Dorothy and Gene Bagley, numerous other family members and friends and most importantly our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is missed dearly by her husband Jim, daughter Kim Suza and husband Jack, her brother John and wife Julie Dupuis. Grandchildren Robert James and wife Vernessa Crawford and their children Noelle and Xavier, Shawn and wife Brandy Crawford and their children, Katherine, Kayla, Haylee, Taylor and Harlee, Travis Crawford and his son Eric, Shannon and husband Chad Oliver and their children Aidan, Jaxon and Karlee, Jack Suza Jr. and his fiancé Dana and their daughter Piper. The list is endless, she has many beloved family and friends members from Texas, Oklahoma, Nevada and Alaska.

In lieu of flowers Jim is asking that you send donations to Shriners Hospital for Children in memory of Donna and her love for children.
