Kenneth J. Gay, 77, a resident of Bad Axe, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, with his family by his side, at the Huron Medical Center, while under the care of Advantage Hospice.
He was born April 26, 1935, in Kinde to the late Alfred and Pearl (Robinson) Gay.
Ken and Berneice Klee were united in marriage on April 30, 1950, at St. Felix Catholic Church near Pinnebog.
He was a graduate of Kinde High School and served two years in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Ferris State University.
Ken retired from Independent Bank as Vice President Cashier. After retirement, he also served as treasurer for the City of Bad Axe for a number of years. He was a longtime member of Verona Hills Golf Club and the Bad Axe Rotary. He served as past president for both organizations. Ken was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Berneice Gay; his son, Greg Gay of Lake Ann; daughters, Lori (Randy) Stone of Bad Axe, Paula Gay of Lancaster, Ohio, and Shelly Gay and special friend Steve Weiler of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Shannon, Caitlin, Randilyn Stone of Royal Oak, Nicholas and Kelsey of Lake Ann, Maizie Bleu Rigsby of Lancaster, Ohio, and Dana Timm of Evart, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Leila Stone and MacKennah Smith of Royal Oak; a sister, Rosalie Reynaert and special friend, Jerry Bergeron of Sanford; stepmother, Irene Gay of Alpena,; his in-laws, Edward (Sandy) Klee, Bobby (Ann) Klee, Charles (Dawn) Klee, Robert Grigg, Bernie (Gigi) Klee, Midge Ritter, Elaine Ritter, Debbie (Don) Hewitt, Marge (Phil) Maurer, Karen Oswald and significant other, Mike Ruth, Sharon (Mike) Loudin, Linda (Bob) Parrish, Lorraine (Virgil) Jaskowski, Roxanne Klee and Billiette Klee.
Ken was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Spark and Joseph Klee, Rudy Kosinski, Jim Ritter, Beverly and Nancy Klee and Eve Grigg.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon on Monday, March 11, 2013, at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe, with Fr. Robert Howe officiating.
Visitation with family and friends will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be offered to American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity or Sacred Heart Food Pantry.
