George Humphrey Emfield was the son of Humphrey Emfield (1819-abt 1856) and Mary (Severns)Emfield (1829-1910). He had one sister, Mary Jane Emfield (married Sanfred H. Dulin)and one half-sister, Iva M. Scott (married George W. Overly). George H. Emfield worked for the Great Northern Railroad and moved from Paulding Co. OH to Great Falls, MT around 1891, where he was a Policeman, then Fireman (1893) in Great Falls.

His first wife, Georgiana Foote died in 1880 in Putnam Co. OH and George remarried in 1883 in Henry Co. to a Mrs. Amelia "Minnie" R. (maiden name: Gay) Taylor. She had one daughter that lived to adulthood, Pearl Taylor.

George and Georgiana had three sons; Samuel Walter (1873-1939), Lawrence Clifford (1876-1949) & Charles Casper (1879-1947). All three also worked for the GNRR.
