Elijah was originally buried in the Johnson Cemetery and later moved to the Crescent Hill Cemetery during the planning of I64. He was the son of Jonathan Winchester McCloud and Julia Emily Tuttle.
He married his first wife, Mahalia Adkins in 1871 and upon her death, he married Anna Lemmon in 1898.
Children with Mahalia are: Viana, Jonathan, Hansford 'Hanse', Winchester 'Chester', Jesse, Albert, Everett, James, Frank, William, Maryland and Mary 'Hazel'.
Children with Annie are: Virgil, Virgie, Lula, Norma, Ella and William.
