Virginia Lee Cathey (nee Dockrey), 90, passed away at her home in Avon Friday, June 15, 2007 after a short illness. She was born 1917 in Mayfield, Kentucky and moved to Lorain in 1927 living most of her life in Elyria. Virginia attended Lorain High School, worked for Elyria Memorial Hospital, and Western Automatic while her husband served in the Navy during WWII. From 1967 to 1997, Virginia owned a cake decorating business, a hobby that she enjoyed. She also enjoyed cooking, making afghans for her family and herself, and gardening. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Virginia was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended Elyria East Kingdom Hall, Elyria and the Lorain South Kingdom Hall. She is survived by eight children; Patrick L. (Cathy) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Patricia A. of Elyria, Virginia Carroll (James) Marcum of Elyria, Iva "Sandy" (Robert) Chesmar of Elyria, Michael O. (Barb) of Elyria, Kathleen J. (Daniel S.) Lewis of Elyria, Clifford V. (Patricia) of Grafton and Pamela J. Bandell of Avon; 39 grand children; 77 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Myra (Albert) Worley of Florida and Geraldine Henderson of Elyria; one brother James (Helen) Sheppard of Salem, Ohio ; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford C. who passed away in 1967, her parents Virgil H. and Iva (nee Honeycutt), stepfather Charlie Sheppard, a brother Virgil H. Dockrey, Jr., and two great-grandchildren Kaitlin Chesmar and Bradley Cathey. Friends may call at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME,114 Second St., Elyria, Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the Elyria East Kingdom Hall in Elyria. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 22, 2007 12 noon at the Elyria East Kingdom Hall, 39099 Chestnut Ridge Road, Elyria. Interment at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
