Born Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1915, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to Edward and Florence (Butler Higgins) Acker. Loving sister to Katherine, Ruth, Royce, and Edward. Graduate of Sturgeon Bay H.S. and University of Wisconsin.
Claire met her future husband, Col. Henry L. Radi, in 1939 and began a beautiful 70-year-long romance. She taught H.S. Music and volunteered teaching English as a Second Language. After living in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Hawaii, they eventually settled in San Antonio.
She dedicated her life to friends, family, and the community, raised three children, Cynthia (John) Camp, Mavis (John Koranek) Bates, Mark (Maureen Moore) Radi, and greatly shaped the lives of her four granddaughters, Madrid Bates Kaufmann, Deneb (Irfan Qureshi) Bates, Elizabeth (Ian) Willette, and Christina Radi.
The keys to her long life were kindness and gratitude. Crossing her path meant you walked away feeling appreciated, loved, and joyful. To honor her memory, please help a stranger, reach out to a neighbor, or give to someone in need.
And she was the Spurs' greatest fan!
