Charles Edwin Maynard, 89, of Crossville, TN. 7.16.1930 – 3.21.2020 He was born in Meades Branch, Lawrence County, Louisa, KY.

He worked and raised his family in Central Ohio.

Charles graduated from Louisa High School & Mayo State Vocational School.

He entered the Air Force in 1952, with the 3rd Radio Relay Squad as a Technical Instructor, serving in Germany until 1956. He then served 28 years with the Federal Aviation Administration as a NAVAIDS Tech Supervisor until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Samuel and Ollie May (Gose) Maynard; and sisters, Greaties and Lotus.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Emma Jean (Crisp); their six children, Nicholas (Loretta) Maynard, David (Linda) Harig, Keith (Debra) Harig, Jeffrey (Connie) Harig, Jeanne (Jim) Amicon, and John Maynard; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Burke, Paul (Tina) Harig, Danielle (Troy) Moss, Jessica (David) Lofgren, Jeffrey (Kellie Bango) Harig, Jr., Tori Amicon, Haley Amicon, Anna Harig, Austin Harig, and Emma Harig; and 14 great-grandchildren, Zachary Glovier, Cameron Harig, Ashlyn Harig, Baylie Harig, Allison Moss, Mia Burke, Gracey Mss, Avery Lofgren and Leo Burke.

Charles’ hobby was researching his family tree and has passed the records unto his daughter, Jeanne, to continue. He was a HAM Radio Operator and enjoyed communicating with his fellow enthusiasts around the globe. “73” to K8ZGE.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date at Harmony Baptist Church, 1731 Cook Rd., Crossville, TN 38558. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Maryville, TN.
