I can tell you that when he passed. The world lost nearly as much as I or any of my family. But the world doesn't know it.
Dad was like an entire library of funny stories, recollections of a simpler time, and an honest opinion from a guy who seemed to have done it all.
In many ways, it was like someone set fire to this enormous library. Destroying all the fantastic books inside. And the world never noticed. Never seen the smoke and flame. Just let it burn to nothing. Joe West Sr. was more than my Dad. He was my best friend. We spent most of every day together at work. We laughed together. We fussed at each other. We even spend several long hours in quiet work just enjoying each other's company. I can say that I am so very proud to have had so much time with him. He could always understand what I was feeling and how to help me work through it. I will miss him greatly in the future. I know that I will never hear is ready laugh in this life again, but I will never forget it either. For the rest of the world who never knew him. I truly pity you. You have missed out on a special light in this world that has recently gone out for good.
If you have spent your time reading these words. then thank you for your time I hope that you learn to cherish the libraries in your life. Don't let them escape you. You appreciate them when you don't have them any longer.
