Harold was united in marriage to Joyce Frey at Melvin, Iowa on 22 Oct 1953 and to this union three children were born. Following their marriage, Harold and Joyce were stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico for two years and then returned to Melvin where Harold was a partner in Juber Implement until the time of his death. He died at Northwest Iowa Health Center at Sheldon, Iowa on June 29, 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Melvin: two daughters and sons-in-law: Lynn and Darrel Dennis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Pam and Wayne Buchholtz of Solon, Iowa and one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Karen of Melvin: eight grandchildren: Daniel, Rachel, Sarah, and Rebecca Dennis; Beth, Kim and Kristen Buchholtz; and Brian Juber; one brother, Harvey of Melvin; and two sisters: Leila Lyman of Sanborn and Evelyn Guetschow of Kansas City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harold was a member of the American Lutheran Church at Melvin where he had formerly served as Church Council Treasurer. He was also a dedicated and active member of the Melvin American Legion. He had served on the Melvin City Council, Melvin Community School Board, and the Sanborn Funeral Home Board of Directors. Harold will be remembered by his family and friends for the enjoyment he received from his lifelong pasttime of raising and showing quarter horses.
