Crystal Gay Ford was born on August 28, 1941 in Brawley California. She laid aside her earthly body and entered Heaven on March 20, 2020 in Loma Linda, California at the age of 78.
Crystal was a sweet little girl with a happy childhood. She enjoyed playing with paper dolls and riding bikes with her cousin Edith. Raised by godly parents, Crystal fell in love with Jesus at a very early age. She attended the Assembly of God church every time the doors were open. Throughout her life, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and played the piano for church services. She was an enthusiastic member of every church she attended. As a young mother, Crystal instilled the same love for Jesus into her children that was evident in her as a child and stayed with her all through her life.
Crystal attended elementary school in Westmorland and graduated from Brawley High School in 1959. That year, she and her childhood sweetheart Carlton were married. They celebrated 60 years of marriage last June 13th.
She was preceded in death by her parents Boyd and Opal Swearingen, brothers Lynn Swearingen and Kerwin Swearingen, and her oldest daughter Carla Macknin. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Carl, son-in-law Gary Macknin, son Kennan (Linda) Ford, daughter Kim (Kevin) Grimes, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many more family and friends who loved her dearly.
Crystal's unshakeable faith in Jesus and hope for eternity in Heaven with Him sustained her through her battle with various health problems. She was known by her doctors and nurses as a woman of remarkable strength. She was always upbeat and had a smile on her face (especially when she insisted that her cancer doctor do a "happy dance" with her). Her testimony lives on as a woman worthy of great esteem to all who knew her.
Crystal will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina, California on Friday, March 27th. The family is saddened that current State and Federal regulations due to the COVID-19 pandemic prohibit them from being able to hold a Celebration of Crystal's life.
