Born and raised in Chicago, Fran graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart Sheridan Road. She attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY and was married in 1946.
To her lifelong friends she was known as Fran, to her family she was GiGi, a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her most profound passion was cooking; she was a true gourmet. After a prayer, Bon Appetite was a phrase heard at the start of all meals. Fran shared her love of cooking and fine dining with friends and family. Many of her family members became accomplished cooks and foodies by today’s standards.
Fran was a member and faithful minister at St Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church, but her real calling was a volunteer for Care Center Hospice for over 30 years. She was the volunteer coordinator for Midwest Palliative. Her expertise was comforting grieving spouses and children who had lost a loved one. In 2015, Fran received a lifetime achievement award from Midwest Palliative, which was one of the proudest moments of her life.
In time, when the world allows, a funeral mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish at Saint Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Northfield, IL.
Mary Frances has been buried at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
