US Congressman. Elected to represent Indiana's 5th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1837 to 1841. He was defeated for re-election in 1835. He also served as a Member of the Indiana State Senate from 1823 to 1829, Candidate for Presidential Elector from Indiana in 1824, Member of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1829 to 1830, and again from, 1832 to 1833, and as a Delegate to the Indiana State Constitutional Convention from 1850 to 1851.
