He was a member of 243rd Assault Helicopter Support Company in Vietnam, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of The Knights of Columbus, Umpire associations, including the Hinesville Officials Association and Georgia High School Association. He worked for years as a Control Room Operator at Colonial Oil. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Jerome "Jerry" Parsons and Helen Ruth Johnson Parsons. Surviving are his wife, Janis Parsons; daughters, Helena Parsons, Janalin Parsons, and Michelle Taylor (Dave); ex-wife, Mary Parsons; siblings, Linda Ferrell (Rick), Thadeus Parsons (Pam), Cynthia Axson (Sam); granddaughter, Courtney Cutting; and great-grandchildren, Brody and Eleanor.
