Obituary

David Phillip Wooten, Jr., 57, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born on Sept. 17, 1957, in Honolulu, Hawaii, eldest son of the late David Phillip Wooten, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Barchers Wooten. Dave and Debbie have resided in the Panama City Beach area for the past nine years, having moved from Charlotte, N.C. Dave is also survived by his mother, Theresa Wooten and her significant other, John Pittman. He left behind his only brother, James. Dave is survived, also, by his daughter, Lea Anne and son-in-law Adam Harrelson, six grandchildren, whom he enjoyed spending time with, William, Skylar, Bailey, Aiden, Sasha, and Tristan. Dave enjoyed a special bond with many, including his extended family, sisters-in-law Jannette Begert and husband Mike, Sandra Barchers and Maryanne Talmadge; and brother-in-law, Mike Barchers, as well as many others that have enjoyed life with him.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the tremendous support to Jensen USA, Inc. where Dave was employed as the IT Manager.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Luther Stanford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Bay County Humane Society in memory of Dave Wooten.

Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle on Beck Avenue

PANAMA CITY-- UPDATE 6 p.m.:
A Panama City Beach man is dead after a crash Thursday morning on State Road 390 behind the Goodwill in Panama City.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say just after eight Thursday morning, a Honda Civic driven by Felicia Forness, 20, tried to pass a slower vehicle and swerved into the path of a Jeep.

Officials say the driver of the Jeep swerved to miss the car, drove into some loose gravel, lost control and hit a motorcycle driven by David Wooten Jr., 57, killing him.

Officials say charges are pending the investigation.

Just after 7 a.m., the crash involving a motorcycle caused Highway 390 to close at 23rd Street.
