Kenneth William Childress, age 82 of LaFollette, passed away July 17 at his home. He was a World War II Veteran, 101 Airborne, and recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a retired dairy farmer, faithful member of the Fincastle United Methodist Church and Men's Sunday School Class. He loved farming and had the first grade A dairy farm in Campbell County in 1952. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth William Jr., parents William and Lillie Childress; sister, Ruella Childress, sister and brother-in-law,Lennie and Lloyd Harmon, brother, Clarence Childress. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Dew Childress; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Gary Edwards of Warrenton, VA, Martha and David Rutter of Ooltewah, TN, Anne and Rocky Young of Louisville, TN, Madelon and Stroud
Lycans of Hendersonville, TN; daughter-in-law, Kathy Childress of LaFayette, TN; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and
Floyd Burris; sisters-in-law, Ruby Childress and Mary Moody; many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held July 20 at Fincastle United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Cole officiating. Interment was in the Fincastle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Fincastle United Methodist Church, 629 Old Middlesboro Hwy., LaFollette, TN 37766. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
