Services for Lieutenant McKerson will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the C.M.E. Church, Q Street SE, with Willie Jean Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Clearview Cemetery under the direction of Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary.
McKerson was born April 9, 1914, at Sherman, Texas, to Richmond and Flossie McKerson. He died Feb. 14, 1997, in a local health care facility.
He spent most of his life in Ardmore where he owned and operated McKerson's B.B.Q. Grill on East Main Street. He was a lifetime member of Holbert Chapel C.M.E. Church where he served as steward and treasurer until his illness. He was also a member of American Legion Post 264 and served as commander for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Johnnie Bell Turman; and three sisters, Gladys Thompson, Irene Franks and Janette Treece.
He is survived by four brothers, Everette, Stockton, Calif., Hayward, Edina, Minn., Richard Charles, Oklahoma City, and Alfred, Ardmore.
