Dr. Robert P. Toney was to marry Lucie Elizabeth Foster. Toney died shortly before their wedding and he was buried at Locust Grove, Ingleside, N.C. Supposedly, he was buried in a lead casket with windows so one could look in at the body. The gravestone was allegedly placed on a trellis to allow the stone to be rolled back to reveal the casket. The trellis, if there ever was one, is long gone but the gravestone remains. It is large, about coffin-sized.

The stone is buried under dirt and and old leaves. I removed some of this a few years back but it has been covered again.
