Mr. Roberts enlisted in the Confederate States Army in April 1861 at Sparta, Tennessee and served as a private in Company G, 16th Tennessee Volunteers Regiment until April 1865.
Mr. Roberts was wounded in battle at Harrison Ferry, Tennessee and as a result, was blinded in one eye.
Mr. Roberts died December 19, 1917 in Morgan County, Alabama, at the age of 77.
