He served in both the Navy and the Air Force during WWII and Korea. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities throughout his life. An early motorcycle enthusiast in and around Little Rock, he went on to a successful career in the automotive industry. Retiring to Maumelle, he was instrumental in the early organization of the Maumelle Senior Center. He and his wife were charter members of the Shepard of Peace Lutheran Church.
According to his son, "Bob Kling never met a stranger; he was extremely outgoing and was simply the happiest man I've ever known. Always eager to help anyone and always with a smile on his face."
