Laura Elaine Kirkland Edwards, 88, of Willowbrook Circle, died Monday April 6, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
In keeping with Governor Cooper’s office concerning COVID-19, the family will hold a private graveside service at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Gavin Pratt officiating services.
Mrs. Edwards was born August 19, 1931 in Washington County Florida to Norman Kirkland and Ollie Mae Daniels Kirkland. She was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church and retired from Dixie Furniture. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry William Edwards Jr. of Lexington, her parents, a brother, Norman M. Kirkland Jr., and four sisters, Hazel Bird and Clara McAdams, Elma Grace Bush, and Thelma Owen all from Florida .
Surviving are two sons, David Edwards ( Linda) of Burlington, and Tim Edwards (Donna) of Lexington; one brother, Rex Kirkland of Florida; 2 grandchildren, Chris Edwards (Heather) and
Nick Edwards (Beth); and 5 great-grandchildren, Jacob Edwards, Jenna Edwards, Elijah Edwards, Lilly Edwards, and Bella Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to North Lexington Baptist Church c/o Outreach Ministry, at 201 Mize Road Lexington NC 27295.
