A native of Lexington, KY he was son of the late Stanley and Georgia Penn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred and two sons, Thomas and George, Jr.
Mr. Penn was a member of First Baptist Church of Asheville where he was active in his Sunday school class. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
He is survived by his three daughters, Marilyn Jackson, Kimberly Rody Kopp and Kelley Penn; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Penn; two brothers, Robert and Paul Penn; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM Friday at First Baptist Church of Asheville.
