Gregory Allen Ford (Greg Ford) was born February 15, 1969 in Abilene, Texas to Calvin Henry and Kathy June (Peters) Ford. He passed away April 5, 2020 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas at the age of 51.
Greg graduated from Meeker High School where he played varsity baseball and basketball. He was the father to three children, Tyler Grant, Amber Nicole, and Logan Henry Ford, and after reconnecting at their 20-year high school reunion he married Twana (Hines) Ford in 2018.
Greg served his community for nearly 30 years as a first responder, starting as a volunteer firefighter in Jacktown, where he became Chief, and then as an EMT and Paramedic at EMSA. In that time, he saved the lives of countless individuals, one of which earned him the Star of Life in 2012 for going above and beyond his duty. You can ask anyone who knew him; Greg was known for doing more than was required of him.
His compassion, work ethic, and drive to help others not only inspired his two oldest children to follow his example and work in healthcare, but also his sister, brother, and nephew. He trained dozens of medics over the years who will now carry on the same values and skills he helped hone.
When not working he loved to fish, camp, and hunt, escaping to the woods or the river when he could make the time. He enjoyed hosting cookouts and football watch parties for family and friends, cigars out by the firepit with Twana, staying up late playing video games with his youngest son, and stopping on his way home from an overnight shift to sit on the porch with his parents and drink coffee.
To so many, Greg was larger than life for his contributions in EMS. For, those who knew him best he was a great father, husband, brother, son, and friend, whose laugh could fill a room and kind heart let you know that he would always be there if you needed him.
Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents, Volnia and Iva Ford and Alford (Hooker) and Edna Peters. He is survived by his wife, Twana Ford; parents, Cathy and Calvin Ford; sister, Becky, brother, Jon, three children, two stepsons, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be missed by so many.
A graveside service for the immediate family will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2020 in the Rossville Cemetery near his home in Jacktown with Steve Harris officiating.
