James was the first born son to Sir Robert Strange and Isabella Lumisden. His parents were avid Jacobites and his Father was present in Prince Charles Edward Stuart's Life Guard at the battle of Culloden in 1746. The Prince was James' Godfather, hence his given names. His Father became an eminent engraver and was knighted by George III. He was my 6xGrUncle.
James had full and varied careers with HEICS, fur trader and Explorer, Banker and Politician. Much can be gained by reading wikipedia's entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Charles_Stuart_Strange.

Gravesite Details

There are 3 stained glass windows erected by Mary and Louisa in memory of their parents in St. John's Episcopal Church in Edinburgh. I located the site of the grave , but the grave stone headstone has fallen of the wall and is lost
